The Town of Farmington was incorporated in 1645, and currently has a population of approximately 25,340. Farmington was partitioned into the towns of Avon, Bristol, Plainville, New Britain, Berlin, Southington, and Burlington. Today, Farmington comprises 28.7 square miles along the Farmington River. Farmington is a beautiful residential suburb in Hartford County that has retained its distinctive character through maintenance of its historic districts.
Farmington offers some of the top public schools in the state of Connecticut. It is also home to one of the top private schools in the country, Miss. Porter's School.
